Vladimirsky Passage
The history of the building of Vladimirskiy Passage in Saint Petersburg is rather interesting and intriguing. It is a well-known fact that the designer of this project was the academic of architecture Kochetov. But famous specialist on Petersburg modern architecture G.I. Alekseev found some historical documents proving that the author of this building was Karl Shulman, Finnish architect. This house, located on Vladimirskiy Avenue 19, was the property of baron Nesser and was constructed but nobody else apart from Karl Shulman. Some designer elements of the building were unique in comparison with Petersburg architecture. It was equipped with open gallery and balcony, which crowned the facade. This decision was rather unusual for the image of St. Petersburg of that historical period.
In 2002-2003 on the place of this building 8-storied building of Vladimirskiy Passage was constructed. Apart from numerous shops it also houses three-stars Dostoevskiy Hotel. Bar Raskolnikov, located on the 7th floor is very popular among the citizens and guests of Petersburg. It is famous for its amazing sceneries open from the bar’s windows. The children can spend time in specially designed room for the children. There are also image studio, some spa-salons, tourist agencies, various clubs and business centers.
